The eye pencil is the perfect tool for shaping the eyes. Suitable for both men and women (yes!), it adds real depth to the face. It darkens the look, opens or closes the eye slightly, gives it a more mysterious effect... Eye pencil is a make-up essential.
Try just this one morning, and you'll see just how much this touch changes everything. And it's very discreet too. Originally, it was found more in the East, under the name "Khôl", which in Arabic means "black". Women and men wore it to darken the eyes (where we tend to use mascara), the best example being in Egypt, with its "almond eye" effect.
Since then, it's no longer just black; it can be dark brown, sometimes electrically colored, and in a variety of textures. If you really want to master the look, it's best to stretch the pencil with a beveled brush (from the outside to the inside of the eyelid), and play with the natural shape of the eye to rework it.
Finally, the pencil is also there to color the eyelid at the root of the lashes, to avoid the "light flesh stripe" effect, which gives the impression of poorly done make-up. And yes, it can be applied to the lower inside of the eye, to close it slightly and give the eyes a more oriental look.
