Make-up has been around for as long as human beings have existed. It began as a way of displaying social position and warlike power (with war paintings), reminiscent of the colors that animals can take on in such cases, and now in our latitudes, we associate it with femininity. Exclusively, in fact? No, because depending on the era and culture, men have also worn make-up.
Make-up has always been a tool, a mask, a veil that we place over ourselves to show off to others. Today, however, make-up is applied in a very different way, with the Nude trend advocating above all an application designed to give a natural, healthy look. The rise of contouring (a technique designed to redefine the contours of a face and bust) shows that we've understood that make-up can recreate an individual entirely.
What's more, with the advent of social networking, many youtubers and beauty youtubers are offering tutorials, moving professional make-up into a more amateur sphere. Nowadays, women are true make-up performers, mastering foundation, lip contouring, eyeshadow management...
The products that accompany this transformation are of better quality, more respectful of skin, more respectful of the environment, more respectful of users.
Clearly, this world is a long way from the futility it may have seemed a few years ago, and its growth and new applications (such as cosplay make-up) augur well for future innovations!
